Sorrells was commissioned by Sopers House, a private members’ club in Cuffley, to design and deliver a fully bespoke bar and wine cellar to support the club’s premium hospitality experience. The project was tailored to suit both the operational demands of the venue and its high-end visual identity, bringing together service functionality and striking design.
The scope included the main front bar, back bar, coffee station, kitchen service hatch, and a floor-to-ceiling glazed wine cellar. Designed and manufactured entirely in-house, the scheme features Sorrells’ popular Havana black finish, complete with gold detailing to complement the club’s refined interior.
The bar, backbar, wine cellar and service hatch all feature gold inlay detailing, adding a refined contrast to the Havana black finish. This subtle touch elevates the visual language of the space, reinforcing the club’s premium aesthetic while maintaining consistency across all joinery elements.
The bar was designed in close collaboration with the club’s operations team to suit their exact service flow. It includes two front-facing serving stations with tills. As a members club, the style of service and drinks often includes coffees and soft drinks during the day, into cocktails and wine for the late afternoon and evening.
The kitchen service hatch was designed and manufactured to mirror the bar and wine cellar detailing, complete with Havana black joinery and gold inlays. This consistency ensures the design flows seamlessly between guest-facing areas and back-of-house, unifying the space through material and proportion.
Within the glazed wine cellar, a slim wall features floor-to-ceiling acrylic racking, offering label-forward bottle storage without visually interrupting the open feel of the space. The clear material ensures the wines are on show, while maintaining the minimalist, architectural aesthetic of the cellar’s glass enclosure.

At the heart of the space is the main bar, which features two front-facing serving stations with integrated tills. Beneath the surface, the design includes concealed prep stations, ice wells, and ice machines, allowing the team to work efficiently without disrupting the clean lines of the bar.
To the rear, the back bar includes gold-accented shelving for spirits, and a dedicated coffee station, seamlessly incorporated into the joinery. The Havana black finish with gold inlays carries across the entire bar structure and flows through to the kitchen service hatch, providing visual continuity throughout the hospitality area.
Beyond the bar, the space opens directly into the club’s wine cellar, visible through a striking set of floor-to-ceiling glass walls. On the slim return wall, a run of acrylic bottle racking offers label-forward display and additional storage, designed to preserve the openness of the view without obstruction.
Inside the cellar, a continuation of the Havana black joinery provides full-height wine storage, configured to hold and present the venue’s extensive wine list. The materials and layout were selected to feel consistent with the rest of the bar area while offering purpose-built storage and clear visual organisation.
