This project, created for the Michelin-starred Galvin La Chapelle in Spitalfields, consists of two bespoke wine storage features, each designed to support daily service while reinforcing the refined atmosphere of the restaurant. Both are visible to guests, acting as part of the visual language of the space.
The first is an understairs wine display, positioned discreetly beside the bar. Built into the architecture of the metal staircase and finished in Sorrells’ signature joinery, the cellar offers practical storage for the working wine list. Though compact, the installation is carefully detailed and fully visible to diners.
The second element, a grand scalloped wine wall is positioned at the restaurant entrance, creating a strong first impression for guests as they arrive. Designed for visual impact, the scalloped racking presents bottles label-forward layout that highlights the restaurant’s wine credentials and sense of occasion.
Together, these two elements demonstrate how wine storage can be both operationally efficient and visually expressive, supporting the needs of the team while reinforcing the identity and experience of a leading hospitality setting.
