Located within a London flat, this project reflects a client-led transformation of a former spare room into a dedicated wine and social space. Sorrells was commissioned to design and build a bespoke dark walnut wine wall as the centrepiece of the room; an environment curated for quiet reflection, entertaining, and appreciation of fine wine.
The finished space brings together a rich material palette and thoughtful layout, combining the wine wall with a wine barrel table and a pair of armchairs. The result is a personal retreat that balances elegance, atmosphere, and functionality in a compact city setting.
This bespoke wine wall was designed as the focal point of a dedicated wine room within a London flat, transforming a former spare room into a warm, sociable space. Built from solid Walnut with a satin finish, the joinery brings richness and architectural weight to the space, complemented by a wine barrel table and armchairs for relaxed entertaining.
The layout features angled shelving to showcase bottle labels while keeping them secure, with integrated display niches to highlight special bottles or glassware. A central storage cupboard is incorporated into the design, offering practical closed storage, a valuable addition in a London property where space is often limited.
Constructed to full ceiling height, the wine wall feels built-in and permanent. Though not climate-controlled, the space provides stable ambient conditions suitable for short- to medium-term storage, ideal for regular use and display.
This installation strikes the balance between style and functionality, delivering a tailored, high-quality feature that enhances both the client’s collection and how they use their home.
