This bespoke wine storage installation was commissioned for a compact, narrow space within a private residence. The client required a high-capacity, highly functional solution that could adapt to spatial constraints while delivering an elegant, furniture-quality finish. Due to the location and layout, a traditional temperature control system was not feasible—so a built-in wine fridge was integrated to offer precision storage where needed.
With a brief focused on efficiency, accessibility, and craftsmanship, Sorrells developed a fully tailored solid oak racking system that maximises every available centimetre – demonstrating how thoughtful design and expert joinery can elevate even the most challenging of spaces.
This compact wine wall was designed to overcome spatial limitations while offering diverse, high-capacity storage. Built from solid oak with a natural finish, it delivers warmth and structure within a narrow footprint.
The racking holds 401 bottles and a temperature-controlled wine fridge is integrated to provide targeted cooling, as a full cellar system was not feasible on site.
Scallop racking is used in shallow sections to maximise capacity without obstructing access, offering efficient label-forward storage. Additional narrow shelving accommodates wine accessories, making the space functional for both storage and preparation.
Every detail is crafted for clarity, access, and daily usability, resulting in a tailored wine wall that fully utilises even the smallest of spaces.
